My paintings are meant to highlight and confront the ways that we automatically categorize incoming sensory information. By using imagery of bodily elements in unnatural or confusing contexts, they are meant to question how we understand and categorize ourselves in our environment and social relationships, specifically.
The twisted, confusing, contorted bodies blend into one another and themselves and their surroundings, mimicking the experience and discomfort found in the experience of identity formation.
